The Christmas Hat is worked in the round from the bottom up on circular needles and double pointed needles (or using the magic loop technique with a longer cable circular needle) towards the point. A casing is made along the lower edge, with a wide elastic on the inside, which insures a good fit regardless of the size of the child’s head. Lastly, a small tassel is built and then sewn on the point of the hat.
Sizes: Small (large). Fits head circumference smaller (larger) than 50 cm.
Gauge: 23 sts x 31 rounds = 10 x 10 cm in stockinette st
Suggested needles: 3,5 mm (US size 4) / 40 cm (16 inches) circular needles, 3,5 mm double pointed needles
Materials: 65 (80) grams of sport weight yarn, approximately 0,5 m of elastic band (2 cm wide), darning needle
Yarn: Pernilla from Filcolana (50 g = 175 m/188 yards)
